Opera was uninstalled, and now so was Shiira. It was….a flop. I don’t think it was a good port. Weird to say that, I know. You couldn’t use any of the Preferences (I guess you can only do that in the Japanese version?) and even though it was based on Chromium you still have a separate search bar from your address bar. I know I’m nitpicking, but that really bothers me now that I’m used to it being one from Chrome.

And to top it all off? The whole thing froze on me when I tried to reblog something lol.

So much for all that speed and innovative tabbing system.

Off to Flock (New) to see if it’s any better.

And the reason I’m so sad is that I base my decisions on Tumblr lmfao. I was reading this cool article on Mac.AppStorm about 10 free browsers for Mac that aren’t Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or IE and I figured I’d try them all out. Right now I’m trying out Opera—mainly out of pure curiosity. Sure, I’d tried Opera out years and years ago… on a PC and when it was like version 1.0 (This was before Firefox blew me away and took the small part in my heart that is now reserved for Google Chrome lmfaoooo).

I wanted to try it out, anyways, like I was saying.

And wouldn’t you know the first two things that I try out to see if I want to keep it are Tumblr and Twitter? LOL. And here is why. The thing that really bothers me about Safari (and probably the only real reason I don’t use it as my primary browser) is that when you ♥/Like something on Tumblr it completely refreshes the whole page. I HATE that. Goodbye, infinite scroll. And goodbye placeholder on your dash.

And the reason I don’t use Firefox as much? Easy. Two reasons. Firstly, it’s been giving me problems with certain flash sites. Flash will just DIE for NO reason (AND YES, fellow nerds, I DO have the latest version. This only recently started to happen since the latest upgrade). And on top of that, on Tumblr when you’re typing in Tags for your posts you can’t hit Enter/Return key to select a tag from the dropdown menu. It just takes it as you’re completely done with your post and auto-clicks “Create post” button for you. Not cool. You have to hit “,” between each tag (and you have to have the whole tag typed out at the same time, thus defeating it’s purpose). And I’m a tagging maniac.

So anyway….

Opera was working out pretty cool so far….and then it did that exact same tagging problem on my last post when I tried to reblog a pic. :( So, sorry Opera. You were cool for all of five minutes. Maybe next version. I’m also disappointed in it feeling very bloated. It felt like a crappy wanna-be Internet Explorer 8. :/

Now I’m off to try RockMelt (REALLY EXCITED BECAUSE I GOT INTO THE BETA >:D), Stainless (Really interested in the new system with specific tab loading and the cookies thing (I…could be on two tumblr accounts per tab?!), Flock (new) (TechStuff @ HowStuffWorks said that it’s pretty cool), and Shiira (I tried this out on my iBook last year and wasn’t overly impressed, but I heard it got an overhaul done to it…so maybe it’s good?!).

So far Chrome is staying my primary browser. But maybe one of these Chrome-based browsers will take it’s place? :’D I like trying out new apps!
